Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) Accelerator

A first-of-its-kind programme for carbon and greenhouse gas removal startups

Unique support for startups in the CDR / GGR space

The CDR Accelerator is designed specifically for greenhouse gas removal, or carbon dioxide removal (GGR/CDR) companies. It’s the first accelerator in the UK to focus exclusively on the unique challenges facing GGR startups as they move from lab to market.

Unlike generalist climate accelerators, the CDR Accelerator tackles the scaling obstacles specific to carbon removal: navigating carbon insurance, digital MRV, certification frameworks, policy and regulation, techno-economic analysis, and building a credible capital stack. These are the barriers that CDR/GGR founders consistently tell us hold them back.

The programme runs a hybrid model alongside Undaunted’s established Greenhouse accelerator, giving CDR/GGR founders access to The Greenhouse’s core 14-week curriculum (covering market discovery, commercial models, IP, climate impact and fundraising) plus bespoke GGR-specific modules, expert office hours, and dedicated networking and fundraising events.

Apply now

Cohort 2 will take place between May to October 2026, and applications are now open. Deadline: 19 April 2026.
Eligibility criteria

The CDR Accelerator supports companies that have a live product (TRL 4-7), looking to raise Seed, and Series A rounds.

The company must be UK-incorporated or willing to register immediately upon selection. Founders don’t need to be London-based, but the business must have a UK-based HQ and be able to attend in-person sessions at Imperial/Oxford locations when required.

The founder(s) must also commit to six months of programming.

We recognise the value of diversity in innovation and acknowledge the current underrepresentation in the climate tech sector. We actively encourage applications from women, Black and other minority ethnic groups, disabled persons, and people from all backgrounds.

Got a question?

Two Q&A webinars will be scheduled, where potential applicants can meet the team, learn more about the programme and ask any questions they may have. Sign up to the Unduanted newsletter to stay in-the-loop on when Q&A dates are announced.

Why apply for Cohort 2?

The programme includes:

Bespoke GGR/CDR workshops (carbon insurance, dMRV, TEA, policy and regulation, capital stack, certifications)

Access to Greenhouse core modules (customer discovery, product and tech, commercial models, IP, fundraising)

1-to-1 mentoring and expert office hours

Investor connections and corporate introductions

Networking events and a Founders Retreat

Cross-pollination with GGR/CDR startups across the wider CO2RE portfolio

Cohort 1

Five companies took part in Cohort 1 from November 2025 to March 2026. Cohort 1 was competitively selected at the 2025 CO2RE Innovation Day, by an expert panel from Undaunted, Supercritical, Oxford Seed Fund and Innovate UK.

Blusink: Engineered substrates for ocean carbon removal and marine biodiversity

Crop Intellect: First-of-a-kind scalable N₂O removal from farmland

Remedium Energy: Novel calcium-based sorbent and Carbon Capture Heat Battery

Woodtek Engineering: Carbon-negative AI compute via biomass pyrolysis and biochar storage

Origen: Using limestone chemistry to remove billions of tonnes of carbon

Part of the CO2RE portfolio

The CDR Accelerator sits within CO2RE, the UK Greenhouse Gas Removal Hub carbon removal innovation programme, funded by Innovate UK across seven university partners.

CO2RE takes a deliberate portfolio approach, supporting companies across DAC, CCUS, biochar, mineralisation, ocean CDR, novel materials and enabling technologies at different stages, to maximise the UK’s shots on goal for gigatonne-scale removal.

To date, CO2RE has supported 14+ GGR-related companies across Greenhouse cohorts 6 to 9 and the GGR Accelerator.
