  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (such as JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • Resize the website to the size of your window or device and display a readable text size whatever device you use. This website resizes automatically depending on the window or device used

Non-accessible content

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible with the details below.

Non-accessible content

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible with the details below.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software. This fails 1.1.1 non-Text content criteria. We are making sure all our PDF’s that are published after 27.08.2024 are fully accessible and have plans to increase accessibility on existing PDF’s that are critical for the key functionality of this website.
  • some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). We are aiming to add alternative texts to all images with critical information and mark those that are decorative only accordingly by 01.09.2025.
  • Our Undaunted guide in PDF format is missing language attribute.  This fails 3.1.1 language of page criteria.  We are aiming to resolve this issue by 01.09.2025.
  • Our Undaunted guide in PDF format is missing the page title.  This fails 2.4.2-page titled criteria.  We are aiming to resolve this issue by 01.09.2025.

N/A

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We work to achieve and maintain WCAG 2.2 AA standards, but it is not always possible for all our content to be accessible. Where content is not accessible, we will be happy to provide an accessible version if the user contacts the team at undaunted@imperial.ac.uk.

Some PDFs on this website may not yet be compatible with screen readers. We are working to convert existing PDF documents to accessible PDFs. In the meantime, If you want to access any of the existing PDFs please email: undaunted@imperial.ac.uk
