Climate Launchpad UK finalists, mentors, and judges
ISONIK wins UK Final of ClimateLaunchpad with its ultrasonic ice prevention tech

Ice build-up on the blades of wind turbines is an issue for 65% of the world’s wind farms, decreasing energy generation by up to 20% and resulting in revenue loss for wind farms globally. ISONIK’s technology can be retrofitted inside the blades and uses ultrasonic soundwaves to prevent ice build-up. Its founding team, who met on Imperial’s MSc Cleantech Innovation, came in first place in the 2025 UK final of ClimateLaunchpad.

Unearthing the Soul of Climate Innovation: Introducing ALMa

Undaunted’s Climate Solutions Catalyst is building a novel tool with the power to unearth untapped academic research that has huge potential to tackle climate change if it can be supported to commercialise.

Its lead developer, Dr César Quilodrán-Casas, deep dives into the team’s search tool: ALMa. “Alma means soul in Spanish,” he says, “and that’s exactly what we are trying to find: the soul of climate innovation and the people behind it; those who can lead the translation of these ideas from research to industry – research that could grow into something transformative if the academics behind it can translate their ideas.”
