The links between mental health and climate change: What we know and what needs to be done about it?

After a short break the NHLI’s Science and Culture seminars are now back! We are delighted to welcome Dr Neil Jennings, Partnership Development Manager at the Grantham Institute and Jessica Newberry Le Vay, a Climate Change and Health Policy Fellow based at the Climate Cares Centre, Institute of Global Health Innovation.

Biography

Dr Neil Jennings is Partnership Development Manager at the Grantham Institute, Climate Change and the Environment at Imperial. He has a specific interest in the co-benefits of climate action – how tackling climate change can help create a cleaner, greener, fairer future and how these co-benefits can be better considered in the decision-making process. Within Imperial, Neil is part of the interdisciplinary Climate Cares team – a group of researchers, designers, policy-makers and educators aiming to understand and support mental health in the current climate and ecological crises.

Jessica Newberry Le Vay is a Climate Change and Health Policy Fellow based at the Climate Cares Centre, Institute of Global Health Innovation. Jessica joined Imperial in 2021, having previously led Cancer Research UK’s policy research programme on cancer prevention. Jessica has a MSc in Global Health from King’s College London with a specialist focus on disasters and adaptation, and a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
